Unit Objectives
Prior Knowledge:
  • Know and use laws of indices
Extended IGCSE learning objectives. Students should be able to:
  • Know and use that the log function is the inverse of the exponential function of the same base (y=ax is equivalent to logay=x) (Video 20.01) (Video 20.02)
  • Take logs and take exponents (“anti-log”)
  • Know and use laws of logs: (Video 20.03)
    • log 1 = 0
    • Addition law
    • Subtraction law
    • Power law
  • Solve simple exponential equations
